The Only Permanent Hair Removal Procedure
What is Electrolysis and How Does it Work?
Electrology is the science of permanent hair removal. Using, a minute amount of current is gently applied to the base of the hair follicle. This process destroys the hair growth tissue. Therefore, the ability of the hair follicle is permanently eliminated. Unlike other hair removal options, professionally performed Electrolysis eliminates unwanted hair, permanently, with unsurpassed results. Moreover, it does so for the largest variety of skin and hair types. Laser promoters compare laser to electrolysis although laser assisted hair removal is considered a temporary method. It has not been evaluated for long-term safety of the patient’s skin and health. Waxing, Threading and Tweezing are alike. More information
The treatment involves placing a sterile probe into the hair follicle and transmitting a small amount of electrical energy to heat the follicle. The current destroys the hair’s germ cells and is removed from the follicle. Once the regenerative cells have been eliminated, there is no possible way for the hair to be reproduced.
Electrolysis VS Laser and IPL
There are many options and factors that go into deciding which hair removal method is best for you- including pain, cost, time involved, and expected outcome. Keep in mind that Electrolysis and laser hair removal methods are based on two different technologies.
Electrolysis uses a fine filament which is placed directly into each hair follicle to be treated. Heat is applied to the hair follicle and the hair is lifted out. Laser hair removal directs a beam of light through the skin to create heat in the follicle. If the hair in the follicle has pigment, it will fall out. Factors that reduce the effectiveness of laser treatments include age, skin tone and stage of individual hair growth patterns. Over time, Laser hair removal may reduce growth…but it does not permanently remove it.
Laser technology is still considered relatively new compared to electrolysis, so there are no long-term results to base an assessment on. We do know that lasers can cause skin damage, and darker skin toned individuals run a risk of discoloring skin pigmentation. In addition, we can’t rule out the possibility of skin cancer when using light. Comments from our clients are that laser treatments caused hair to grow more!

Electrolysis After Treatment Care
- DO NOT TOUCH the treated area. The cleaner and drier the area, the less irritation you will have. If you catch yourself touching the area, please use the alcohol prep pads, provided for you after your treatment.
- The treated area will be red for 30 minutes to an hour – depending on your type of skin. If you have minor irritation, it is usually from dirt and/or sweating.
- Avoid working out 12-24 hours after your treatment.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, skin exhortation’s and Alpha-Hydroxy type products, etc. for 48 hours.
- When treating areas of the body (face not included), tiny scabs may appear on the second or third day after. THIS IS NORMAL. Please Do not pick or pull them off if you want speedy healing. You may also use Neosporin or another antibiotic CREAM…no ointments!
- Leaving the area alone to heal is best. If you have slight puffiness, an ice compress will help but the reddened skin (blood flow) is a natural reaction to the healing process. If ice is needed when you get home, make sure the compress is disinfected prior to use.

Hairs have differing cycles of growth, many of which are not visible on the surface of the skin at the same time. The follicle produces the hair from the blood supply, and discards it eventually through shedding. The process of growth, rest and replacement are known as the hair growth cycle. The sequence of events is repeated constantly until a hair ceases to be formed.
